
RWWA Stewards today inquired into a report from the Racing Chemistry Laboratory in Perth, that the pre-race blood sample taken from the eight year old gelding CLASS MATE prior to it competing and finishing unplaced in Race 9 the Channel Nine Conditioned Handicap (2902m) at Gloucester Park on Friday, 12 September 2008, had a level of total carbon dioxide (TCO2) in excess of 36.0 millimoles per litre in plasma.
Evidence was taken from Trainer Mr Brian Ferguson, the managing owner, RWWA Veterinarian Dr. Judith Medd, RWWA Investigator Mr Geoff Johnson and Racing Chemistry Laboratory Manager Mr Charles Russo.
Mr Ferguson requested and was granted an adjournment to seek further expert advice.
The inquiry was adjourned to a time and date to be determined.
