By virtue of the provisions of Section(s) 41 and 42 of the Racing and Wagering Western Australia Act 2003, RWWA may in accordance with the rules of racing and the regulations, register or refuse to register
The respective rules of racing of each of the codes outline criteria's and requirements with respect to the above categories of registration and as such each code has its own procedures and policies that apply.
The RWWA Integrity Assurance Committee (IAC) has, inter alia, primary oversight of the Licensing and Registration function. The Licensing and Registrations department, located at the offices of Perth Racing in Grandstand Road Ascot, is part of the Integrity Division headed by the RWWA Chairman of Stewards. The department is managed by Mr. Denis Borovica who reports to the Chairman of Stewards, who has the delegated authority to approve applications for registration. Applications not approved fall to the IAC for determination.
Active participation in any of the racing codes requires varying levels of registration for both person and animal in accordance with the applicable Rules of the Code. It is an offence under the Rules for licensed activities to be undertaken by unlicensed persons. Similarly no animal can be used in an activity governed by the Rules of Racing unless properly registered in accordance with those Rules.
The Licensing and Registrations department has officers dedicated to particular areas to provide specialised advice and guidance in transacting business associated with licensing or registrations.
