03 July 2008 Geraldton Pacing Cup

There will be no happier person than trainer Sarah Suvaljko if her pacer Delta Bromac happens to win Sunday’s Kruize Asphalt Geraldton Pacing Cup.  Delta Bromac has a special place in the heart of Suvaljko after almost dying in a track work accident last year.

“We were very close to losing her,” said Suvaljko.

“It was touch and go for a while and at that stage we had no thoughts of her ever racing again.

“To get her back on the track is just a bonus and testament to her courage.”

Delta Bromac is going to need all her courage and skill if she is to add the Geraldton Cup to her resume.

She hasn’t displayed the best of form this season and Suvaljko is more hopeful than confident.

“Her form doesn’t read the best but she hasn’t been too far away,” said Suvaljko.

“If she gets the right run she has a chance but it’s a difficult ask with the likes of However and Billyberich.”

Trainer John Reynolds said Billyberich worked a treat during the week and goes into the race with a fair degree of confidence.

“It’s another test for him but it’s a chance to see how good he is,” said Reynolds.

“I know he can run the time but he has to put it all together on race day.”

With any Geraldton meeting you can never discount the Tom Elliot team.

Lorinda is Elliot’s sole representative in the Cup and should not be discounted by punters.

“There were excuses for her last start and I expect her to be a genuine each-way chance,” said Elliot.
