10 September 2008 Central Wheatbelt Commence Season in Style

The Central Wheatbelt Harness Racing Club commenced their new season last Sunday with a healthy on-course crowd enjoying a competitive 6 race programme.

The first race was taken out by the favourite Sarahyln and continued the good form of driver Stephen Reed. Second placegetter Golden Laird put in a gutsy performance to finish third after nearly 16 months off the scene with a leg injury.

Punters took a blow in races two and three with Penny Cravings and Admiral Bardot scoring solid wins. The first-up win of Admiral Bardot is a credit to local trainer Linda Taylor who has nursed the winner back to form after a race fall at Northam six months ago.

Manchurian found the front and won in style for trainer-driver Peter Arthur in race four of the afternoon, Terris Falcon for Peter Tilbrook won race five and Wemen Earl for Peter Winterswyk the last of the day.

The next meeting of the Central Wheatbelt Harness Racing Club is Sunday, September 21, with the feature event the Shire of Kellerberrin Centennial Cup.
