Harness – Stewards Inquiry – Trainer Mr Kim Prentice – EXTRADITE (NZ)
On Thursday 12th April 2018, RWWA Stewards resumed the inquiry that had been adjourned at the request of Trainer Mr Kim Prentice following the issue of a charge under Rule 190 with the particulars being that as the trainer he presented EXTRADITE NZ to race in Race 5 at Northam on 25 November 2017 where it raced and finished first, not free of the prohibited substance cobalt, evidenced by a concentration of cobalt in excess of 100 micrograms per litre in urine.
Mr Prentice had been granted an adjournment at his request on the 1 February 2018 to consider his plea to the charge.
At the resumed inquiry Mr Prentice pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Further evidence was then heard from Dr. A McGregor who was called by Mr Prentice to the inquiry, RWWA Industry Veterinarian Dr. J Medd and Chem Centre representative Ms. K Wilson. Stewards then reserved their decision to consider the evidence, including a considerable amount of documentary evidence presented by both Dr McGregor and Dr Medd.
The Stewards after considering all evidence have now determined to find Mr Prentice guilty as charged.
Accordingly the inquiry will now resume on 1 May 2018 to hear submissions on the matter of penalty.
