Stewards Inquiry – Jockey Ben Kennedy – Mt Barker Racecourse, 22 January 2017

RWWA Stewards today conducted an inquiry into a report received from the ChemCentre (Perth) that the banned substances amphetamine and methamphetamine were detected in the urine sample taken from Jockey Ben Kennedy at Mt Barker Racecourse on Sunday, 22 January 2017.
Evidence was taken from Jockey Ben Kennedy, RWWA Medical Advisor Dr. Peter Cummins and ChemCentre Analyst Ms M. Raghvani.
Mr Kennedy pleaded guilty to a charge under AR.81A(1)(a) for providing a urine sample on the above date which upon analysis was found to contain amphetamine and methamphetamine which are banned substances under the provisions of AR.81B.
After hearing submissions from Mr Kennedy, the inquiry was adjourned to allow Stewards to consider the matter of penalty.
