The St Vincent De Paul CEO Sleepout held annually since 2010 is once again being held this year on Thursday 23 June.
Racing and Wagering WA Chief Executive Officer Richard Burt will spend the night sleeping out at the WACA to raise money for Vinnies homeless services at this his fifth CEO Sleepout event.
Mr Burt is taking place in the annual CEO Sleepout along with over 110 other WA CEOs with the goal of exceeding his target of $5000 to assist homelessness in Western Australia.
“I participate in the Sleepout in an effort to help others less fortunate. Each year people taking part in the Sleepout get the opportunity to meet and hear first-hand the stories from those affected by homelessness, it’s very moving. Participation in the event is a very humbling experience,” Mr Burt said.
Since the beginning of the WA event six years ago the combined total raised by WA business leaders is well over $4.2million.
Last year $875,000 was raised for Vinnies homeless services at the WA event which provided 967 safe nights of sleep, 273 nights of emergency accommodation, helped 1,252 people at risk of eviction and allowed 823 young people who were street present access essential support services.
With over 100,000 Australians experiencing homelessness the Vinnies CEO Sleepout offers a small glimpse into life on the streets.
