Community TAB Launches State-wide Sports Grants Program
13 November, 2017
Community TAB of Racing and Wagering WA (RWWA) has launched a new grants program where metropolitan and regional sporting clubs in WA are welcome to apply for a grant of up to $4000 to support their club.
Community TAB will provide one grant each month to a sporting club to further their contribution to the sport and recreation industry in WA.
RWWA Chief Executive Officer Richard Burt said it is an exciting new initiative for Community TAB and a great opportunity for sporting clubs.
“We recognise the importance of grass roots sport throughout WA and understand that it takes time and resources to keep a club running within the community, so we are excited to be giving the opportunity to help relieve this burden on clubs,” Mr Burt said.
“RWWA has been supporting the WA sport and recreation industry for many years through providing over $30million of TAB turnover over 10 years to the Department of Sport and Recreation (DSR) and more recently through Community TAB sponsoring the WA Football League and WA Integrated Football Program.
“Community TAB has been giving back to the WA community since 2014 through major partnerships, state-wide fundraising programs and sponsorship of prestigious events.”
RWWA has been associated with the WA Sports Federation (WASF) for many years through its contribution to DSR and more recently through Community TAB promoting WASF and sponsoring WASF events.
WASF Chief Executive Rob Thompson said the Community TAB Sports Grants is a great initiative for sporting clubs to receive some extra funding.
“The funding opportunity that Community TAB is presenting to sporting clubs, in a financially constrained environment, is extremely appealing and beneficial,” Mr Thompson said.
“The fact that it is open to sporting clubs from all over the State is a fantastic thing for grassroots sport in WA.
“WASF has thoroughly enjoyed working together with Community TAB over the past few years to support the WA sporting industry and commends them on this new initiative.”
