Community TAB Supports Regional Achievement Community Awards
6 May, 2016
Community TAB is continuing its support of regional West Australian communities through its sponsorship of the 2016 WA Regional Achievement and Community (WARAC) Awards.
Community TAB is the sponsor of the Community Service Award which will recognise individuals who make a significant contribution through community service or social justice initiatives in the areas of culture, health, emergency services or education.
Racing and Wagering WA Chief Executive Officer Richard Burt said Community TAB is excited to be a part of the Awards for the first time.
“We see the awards as a prestigious way of recognising people who are helping shape and develop WA regional communities to benefit others,” Mr Burt said.
“Community TAB has been involved in supporting regional communities since its inception by partnering with WA race clubs to fundraise for not-for-profit organisations in need in their local areas.
“Community TAB recognises the importance in maintaining and growing our regional communities and showing appreciation to those who assist in this.”
WARAC Awards Manager Josh Griffin welcomed the sponsorship from Community TAB.
“The WARAC Awards have been in place for the past 15 years and are designed to encourage, acknowledge and reward the valuable contributions individuals, communities and businesses are making throughout regional and rural WA,” Mr Griffin said.
“Community TAB coming on as a sponsor means we can continue to recognise individuals who are committed to making WA a better place to live.
“If someone has made an impact or difference in your life or has impressed you with their community spirit, why not nominate them?”
Each category winner will receive $2,000 along with a trophy, and the Department of Regional Development Overall State Winner will receive an additional $2,000.
Nominations are open from Wednesday 11 May until Wednesday 3 August.
To nominate go to www.awardsaustralia.com select Western Australian Regional Achievement and Community Awards and then ‘Nominate Now’.
The Awards ceremony will take place on Friday 28 October.
