It’s A Breeze For Durrant

Kiss The Breeze lived up to the hype with an impressive win in the opening two-year-old race of the season at Belmont on Saturday.
The Star Witness filly started an even money favourite and didn’t let her supporters down with a mature performance over 1000m.
Kiss The Breeze, a $72,500 yearling from the stable of leading trainer, Adam Durrant, attracted attention after winning a 400m trial.
Launching a winning treble for William Pike, Kiss The Breeze raced three wide, but finished powerfully to score by a half-length.
Durrant says Kiss The Breeze oozes talent and stamped her claims for feature two-year-old races, but he won’t rush her juvenile campaign.
“At this stage the plan is to go ahead to her next start in three weeks’ time, but that’s always up in the air with two-year-olds,” Durrant told TABradio.
“Obviously she has shown us enough to think that 1200m and 1400m of the Sires and Karrakatta Plate are on the agenda with her win.
“But we won’t be getting too far ahead of ourselves and will take it day by day at this stage because I do think as a three-year-old she will really grow into a nice sort of size and I don’t won’t to hurt her before she gets to that stage, that’s for sure.”
Meanwhile Durrant admits he had to reassess his judgement on Pinzu who continued his consistent preparation with successive 1400m wins.
Durrant said the Pins gelding, who ran on strongly behind a slow tempo and scored by two lengths, is capable of claiming a feature race.
“He is on his way to winning a lower grade black type race like the Northam Cup (1600m),” Durrant said.
“He might not be ready or good enough which he is probably not for a Railway or a Kingston Town, but there are races around those we can target.
“If that didn’t come to plan then the Bunbury Stakes or the Hannans next year will be a nice race for him.
“He has really progressed and if you keep them in sound and in form and in the right time and place you can sometimes pinch a good one.”
