LADY LUCK SHINES ON MAN BOOKER IN WA GUINEAS

Consistent 3 year old gelding Man Booker gave his large group of owners an experience they are not likely to forget anytime soon.
With 23 female owners on hand to lead the gelding back into the mounting yard, there was an outpouring of emotion following the Group 2 WA Guineas.
Paying $9.10 on the WA TAB, Man Booker proved too strong in the final stages to outlast Spirit Bird who found plenty in the concluding stages under the urgings of Craig Williams. The Stephen Miller prepared The Cobbla kept his good run of form going to snatch third just ahead of the stablemate of the winner, London Line.
It gave trainer Dan Morton his first win in the WA Guineas and following the race he praised young hoop Jerry Noske for being ‘cool in a crisis’ in what was by far the biggest win of her short career.
Noske had Man Booker positioned midfield throughout before allowing the Discorsi gelding to slide around runners with momentum prior to the turn. Despite reaching the front on straightening, both horse and rider found plenty to outlast rivals.
“I wanted him to be closer, but he just finished off like a superstar” said Noske.
The $4.20 race favourite Arcadia Dream was badly checked 150m from home and finished in 10th.
