Trainer Sarah Appleton says Moment To Jive is perfectly poised to launch her Group 1 Galaxy assault at Cannington on Saturday
Appleton is confident Moment To Jive, drawn in box two, can extend her hot winning form when she contests the Galaxy Prelude.
“If she wins on Saturday it will be her eighth victory in a row,” Appleton said.
“She is going really good and I’m feeling very confident.
“Her box draw gives me additional confidence.
“She is in a terrific head space at the moment.
“I’m quite excited by what’s ahead.”
Owned and trained by Appleton and her husband Richard Jones, Moment To Jive has won 19 of her 54 races with 19 minor placings, boosting stake earnings to $108, 225.
A shot at one of the biggest and most prestigious WA greyhound races would be a major shot in the arm for Appleton who survived and overcame a life-threatening health scare.
Three years ago the Canning Vale trainer was in an induced coma for eight days and in emergency care after routine surgery went horribly wrong.
Appleton suffered a blood clot during a back operation at St John Of God’s Hospital in Murdoch and went into cardiac arrest.
Appleton said she was excited to have a greyhound involved at the elite level.
“It’s good to be on home soil competing for one of Perth’s major races,” Appleton said.
“Local dogs will have the advantage being at home opposed to anyone from the eastern states that may come.
“I don’t want to get too far ahead of myself and I know it’s a cliché, but I’m taking it one race at a time.
“But I’m feeling positive and can’t wait to give it a go.
“I feel Moment To Jive is up to the challenge that lies ahead.”
Appleton admits the nerves are building ahead of the prelude, but win lose or draw she will have to keep an even temperament.
“I’m eight months pregnant so I can’t get too excited,” she joked.
“I’ve been told I can’t have the baby before the Galaxy.” (Laughs).
