WA Country Cups caught up with Ms Scott to talk about country racing and racing fashion, as well as the upcoming final, here is what she had to say:
What do you love about country racing? I love the experience you get at the country races. On the one hand it’s such a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere, but on the other hand you can go all out and get dressed up head to toe in race wear. I get to combine my love of fashion with a really fun day with the girls and it’s a great excuse for bubbles and a bet, what’s not to love?
How long have you been going to the races for and what are your favourite memories? I’ve been going to the races for quite some time and I love going to the trots just as much! One of my favourite memories is taking my now four year old daughter when she was just a couple of weeks old. It’s no wonder she already has a love of horses (although I’m not quite ready for us to have our own pony!)
Why do you enter Fashions on the Field? I was so nervous the very first time I entered, but soon realised it becomes addictive! I spend far too many hours searching for my outfits, deciding what colour/style/millinery/shoes/accessories etc., but when it comes together on race day it is incredibly satisfying. There aren’t many times when you can wear a total matching outfit from millinery right down to shoes, it’s wonderful! Having a win in Fashions on the Field is a great feeling and a real boost to your confidence.
Describe your style? Classic and elegant. And always, always matching shoes! (I’m also not afraid to admit I love leopard print).
What tips do you have for ladies entering Fashions on the Field? Enjoy the experience and wear what you love! I’ve met some wonderful new friends through Fashions on the Field, we all share a love of fashion and support each other in the lead up to and on race day. So have fun and be prepared for your wardrobe to expand!
What are some of your favourite things about the South West region? I love living in the South West. It has a wonderful relaxed country feel, yet we have amazing wineries, beaches and boutique shops right on our doorstep. Shoebedoo needs a special mention here as this is quite possibly the best shoe shop I have ever been to and the service you will receive is absolutely second to none. I adore Ferguson Valley and love taking a drive down with my family, making a special stop at Ferguson Farmstay where we got married.
What does it mean to you to be going to Ascot to compete in the Final? It is an absolute privilege to be part of this competition and to be going to Ascot in December to compete in the Final. It’s a fantastic competition and a real opportunity to showcase country racing and Fashions on the Field. It’s not very often I’m lost for words, but winning at Bunbury Stakes Day left me speechless! I’m really excited and cannot wait to go to Ascot and experience the Final with all the girls.
