Have you ever considered becoming a racehorse owner? Murray Carter shares his experience as a thoroughbred owner.
What is your favourite race you have been involved with as an owner?
Having a runner in the Bunbury Stakes which was won by Black Heart Bart.
What race would you like to win as an owner?
I would love to one day win a Railway Stakes or Winterbottom.
What horse would you love to own if you had the opportunity?
It would have to be Winx!
What is your best moment in racing as an owner?
I have enjoyed all the wins we have had at Ascot, Belmont, Bunbury and Pinjarra.
What is your favourite race meeting that you have been to as an owner?
Railway Stakes day at Ascot.
Would you recommend ownership to any of your friends and family?
Yes, and I will continue to do so. I am currently in partnership with several horses with several friends.
What has been your biggest surprise as an owner?
How open and friendly people are in the racing industry.
How have you celebrated a win as an owner?
I have enjoyed many cold beers with other part owners and trainers (Michael Lane – doesn’t mind a beer!).
Would you be interested in buying more horses?
Yes.
How often do you go and visit your horse at the stables?
Roughly every month or so as opportunities arise.
