Arriving in Western Australia a young boy, Morley attracted the attention of trainer T Tighe in the Belmont district when he was delivering newspapers on horseback.
Some years later he was an apprentice winning the Adelaide Cup. Soon after, he was at the top of the jockey premiership – and was there four times.
He won three Perth Cups, two Railway Stakes, four WATC Derbies, a Karrakatta Plate and a string of other feature races.
