Adelaide proved to be a happy hunting ground for the West Australian’s on Saturday.
Former star juvenile Whispering Brook launched a big day for the Sandgropers when she won a 1200m sprint at Morphettville.
Now in the hands of premier Victorian trainer, Darren Weir, Whispering Brook justified $2.25 favouritism with a solid victory.
Dan Morton’s gun mare Dainty Tess kept the WA flavour rolling when she posted an upset victory in the Group 3 Irwin Stakes (1100m).
In her maiden interstate appearance, Dainty Tess, denied a fairy-tale return for star Adelaide mare and Group 1 hero, Viddora.
Then it was over to sisters Madeleine and Jocelyn Young to maintain the Western Australian momentum in harness racing.
The Pinjarra-based siblings were WA’s representatives in the Reinswoman Invitational Challenge at Globe Derby.
Madeleine Young had a few anxious moments before she could claim her first interstate honours on Truscott Law in the Hummer SA Trotters Discretionary (2230m).
In a driving finish with three runners spread across the track, Truscott Law flashed home from the tail of the field to score in the last stride by a narrow margin.
Jocelyn Young capped a perfect night for WA racing and gave favourite punters something to cheer about when leading throughout on Murranji Track.
Madeleine Young said she will relish and savour her first interstate driving experience.
“It was really good and the organisation of the night was a ten out of ten,” she said.
“It was a great to mix with different trainers and drivers who were very good.
“It also gave me experience on different tracks with different rules.
“They have different push out rules that you have to adapt to.
“Overall a great experience.”
Morton said Dainty Tess had recovered well from her run in the Irwin Stakes and will progress to the Sangster Stakes.
“She pulled up super,” Morton told Tabradio.
“She went in good and came out good.
“She is looking like a live chance in a big race.”
