KENNEL MANAGER – GREYHOUNDS AS PETS
Racing and Wagering WA is seeking an independent contractor to undertake the responsibilities of the Kennel Manager at the Greyhounds as Pets kennel facility in Southern River. The contract is for a three year period with the possibility for renewal thereafter.
The Kennel Manager is responsible for the daily care of the dogs kept under their supervision at the Greyhounds As Pets (GAP) Kennels, specifically:
•Cleaning cages and runs (am and pm)
•Feeding and ensuring dogs have clean water available (am and pm)
•Medicating dogs as prescribed when required
•Assist in general grooming, bathing, exercising, as required
•Monitoring the behaviour of dogs in the GAP facility and ensuring case notes are made
The Kennel Manager responsibilities may require irregular hours that can include evenings and weekends, including accepting greyhounds into the kennels and processing foster dogs out of the kennels. They must also be available when “on call” for emergencies that might arise after hours or on holidays.
Ideally the Kennel Manager will have a solid background working with dogs professionally; useful prior experience may include work as a veterinary technician, kennel assistant, dog show handler, dog groomer, dog walker, or dog trainer. A knowledge of greyhounds or relevant training in an animal related field such as animal science or biology is desirable.
Demonstrated communication skills to assist with interacting with owners and trainers dropping off or picking up greyhounds will also be required.
The contract requires the Kennel Manager to live at the kennel property. A three bedroom, 1 bathroom house at the property will be made available rent free to the successful candidate. In addition to accommodation the successful candidate will also receive a negotiated weekly payment as part of the agreed contract. Please indicate desired payment range with your application.
