MASTERS RACING UPDATE
Masters races are treated as Graded races therefore the ability to beat the grader is valid. This applies to both grade and the win eligibility criteria. If at the time of grading a Masters race the greyhound is eligible to compete in it and subsequently has a win after the field is produced it will be considered beating the grader.
QUALIFYING TRIAL CHANGES
The process of qualifying a greyhound to start its racing career has been simplified. The updated policy is included in the November edition of Chasing WA for your reference.
The changes in summary are:
- Removal of multi class times – qualification times have been moved out to the current extremes.
- Removal of 405m & 509m distance specific grades – if a greyhound for instance qualifies over 405m, it will now be allocated a Provincial Sprint Maiden grade, allowing it to race in any Provincial Maiden over any distance.
Rules surrounding short course qualification remain the same and these changes do not extend to Stewards satisfactory trials.
The changes will apply to qualifying trials from 7 November 2017 onwards.
