Fred Kersley strengthened his lead in the Touchstone Farm Rising Stars series after completing a double at Bunbury on Saturday.
Kersley maintained his position at the head of the leader board with polished rides on Danehills Daughter and First Affair.
Kersley was having his first ride on Danehills Daughter and settled near last before tracking chief rival Sonnen to the turn.
He then had First Affair positioned midfield and peeled to the outside before the Saxon mare let down strongly in the straight.
Kersley continues to make strides after claiming Leading Outer Provincial Apprentice and Most Promising Junior Rider at Racing and Wagering Western Australia’s (RWWA) Apprentice awards in September.
He was also Kalgoorlie’s Leading Apprentice at the recently completed 2016-17 racing season after booting home 14 winners.
Brodie Kirby ensured he kept within striking distance of Kersley after combining with Tirreno in the Leinster Sprint (1350m) on Saturday.
Jessica Gray made up significant ground on the leaders after bookending the Leinster meeting with a double.
Gray, indentured to Dan and Ben Pearce, lifted Secret Smile to a head victory over Lothello in the first race.
She then partnered Avidus who finished powerfully from third position at the turn to take out the Leinster Cup (1600m).
