
Racing and Wagering Western Australia (RWWA) has recently recruited Stewards for both Harness and Thoroughbred racing codes.
Mr Harold Taylor, Chairman of Stewards Kwa-Zulu Natal Jockey Club in South Africa has been appointed to the position of Thoroughbred Senior Steward. Harold has been a Steward for approximately twenty five years and in his current position chairs the prestigious July Handicap, South Africa's premier race. Harold will bring a wealth of experience and expertise to the Thoroughbred Stewards Panel.
Mr Steven Shinn has accepted a position of Senior Steward with the Harness Panel. Steven is a former Driver and prior to this position was a Senior Steward in South Australia. He also has extensive experience in International Racing having spent many years in Canada and will be a welcome addition to the Harness Racing Panel.
Also Mr Mathew Kearns has been appointed to the position of Steward with the Harness Panel. Mathew formerly a Steward with Harness Racing Victoria will take up duties in Western Australia shortly and will further bolster the Harness Stewards Panel.
Chairman of Stewards Mr John Zucal said, “All three appointees have extensive racing experience and will be welcome additions to our already competent current panel of stewards.
RWWA is also training four Cadet Stewards across the three codes to ensure the current high integrity standards are maintained now and in the future” he further said.
