
The Western Australian Racing Industry will be raising funds this week to donate to the Victorian Bush Fire Appeal.
“The devastation caused by the bush fires in Victoria has deeply affected all Australians”, said Ken Norquay, RWWA Executive General Manager Racing. “The racing industry across the nation has always rallied to support people in need.”
Each of the major clubs conducting race meetings this Thursday through Sunday will be collecting donations on behalf of the Western Australian Racing Industry. RWWA has kick started the appeal by pledging $5,000 to each of the clubs listed below, a total of $25,000 in all.

All of the clubs involved will finalise their plans for the fundraising exercise, however will be accepting donations throughout their race day in support of the victims.
“This is a major disaster of extreme proportions and a harrowing and trying time for all of those affected,” RWWA CEO Richard Burt said.
“I am sure many industry participants and patrons attending race meetings this week will dig deep so that in some small way the Western Australian Racing Industry can do something to assist the many individuals affected and enable those who have lost loved ones, life possessions and their homes, can commence rebuilding their lives”, Burt added.
The race clubs are strongly in their support of this Appeal and an initial target of $50,000 from the Western Australian Racing Industry could well be exceeded.
