Racing and Wagering Western Australia (RWWA) would like to express heartfelt thanks to the Western Australian Racing Industry who have raised $80,873.95 towards the Victorian Bush Fire Appeal.
All money raised will go directly to the Red Cross to help those so deeply affected by the tragedy in rebuilding their lives.
The appeal was conducted over five days and involved local thoroughbred, harness and greyhound clubs as well as TAB agencies across the state.
"This is an amazing effort by the racing industry, including clubs, participants and patrons and reflects the amazing generosity of all Australians at what is a difficult time for so many people," said Executive General Manager Racing Ken Norquay.
"We were hoping to reach a target of $50,000 so the final figure is just an outstanding result and full credit to all industry participants who took part" he further said.
RWWA kick-started the appeal which commenced on February 13 and covered five race meetings with an initial $25,000 donation.
