01 July 2009 Carnarvon Meeting Cancelled on Sunday 5 July 2009

As a result of heavy rain a track inspection by Carnarvon Race Club representatives on 27 June deemed the surface to be unfit for racing and as a result the meeting scheduled to be conducted on Sunday 28 June was subsequently abandoned.

Although remedial work on the track was commenced at the first available opportunity, further problems with the track surface have been identified and additional work required prior to the next meeting being conducted.

At this juncture there is a risk that work on the track may be unable to be completed prior to the race meeting scheduled for Sunday 5 July. After assessing the present circumstances and reviewing the future racing programme Carnarvon Race Club has agreed it to be prudent to postpone this meeting by one week. Accordingly, the race meeting has now been re-scheduled to Sunday 12 July 2009.

Trainers should note that although the race programme will remain unchanged, fresh entries will be taken for all races. Nominations will close at 9.30am on Tuesday 7 July.
