Greyhounds As Pets WA (GAP) is a program of Racing and Wagering Western Australia (RWWA). Their mission is to promote, encourage and facilitate greyhound pet ownership to the wider community through the provision of safe, healthy greyhounds to homes throughout Western Australia.
RWWA is committed to ensuring that the best levels of care is given to greyhounds throughout all stages of their lives, through a program of investment, education, monitoring and regulation.
Each greyhound that enters the GAP program completes a 4-6 week period in foster care so they can get used to life as a pet and the rhythms of a home environment. The staff at Greyhounds As Pets work with new owners to ensure that the dog they receive will fit in well with their individual home and family.
All the greyhounds GAP rehomes are tested against the National Temperament Assessment and issued a green collar meaning they can be in public without a muzzle. Additionally, all greyhounds re-homed through GAP are sterilized, wormed, vaccinated and microchipped.
To enter your greyhound into the GAP program it needs to have been retired from racing and come to GAP for a pre-entry assessment. Please call GAP on 9445 5399 to book your greyhound a spot.
