If Politician can overcome an awkward draw he looks hard to beat in the bayeranimal.com.au Kanyana Stake (530m) at Cannington tonight.
The John Iwanyk-trained chaser will step from the yellow box but will appreciate tonight's grade after recent efforts against tougher opposition.
Last week he scored his second win from his past four starts when he finished powerfully from midfield to score from My Little Tubby in 30.94secs.
"He has been a nice little dog who has only been unplaced twice from 13 starts," said Iwanyk.
"Unfortunately he hasn't been able to get good box draws and he isn't a quick beginner but he does have a lot of track sense and is very strong.
"His sectionals are very good and last week he ran 11.40 or under which is pretty good for any greyhound.
"If he is anywhere near the firing line he will be very hard to beat"
Iwanyk is expecting improvement from Diplomatic Lady who ran into all sorts of problems when sixth behind Muza's Girl on debut last fortnight.
The Pure Octane greyhound does have ability on the strength of an impressive trial win and can bounce back in the Punters Club $35 Best Bet Pack Maiden Series (530m).
"Last week she hit the first bend and didn't know what to do," Iwanyk said.
"She is still learning but given the right run she is an each way chance"
