Select two runners you think will finish 1st and 2nd in any order. Mark your selections in the first selection box.
To increase your chances, you can take an Allways Quinella by marking all your selections, or the field, in the first selection box only. To win, one of your selections must win, and another must come second.
To find the number of combinations, multiply the number of selections you have marked by that number minus 1, then divide by 2.
For example, if you marked four selections in your Allways Quinella with a $2 bet value, the calculations would be:
| No. of selections | Divide by two | No. of combinations |
|---|---|---|
| 4x(4-1)=12 | 12/2 | 6 |
Then, to find the cost, multiply the number of combinations by the bet value selected.
| No. of combinations | Bet value | Cost of Bet | |
|---|---|---|---|
| 6 | x | $2 | $12 |
For Allways Quinella combinations, use the cost function on the Quinella betting page.
If you're sure that a particular runner will win or finish second, you can have a Leg-In Quinella. Select one runner in the first selection box, then select the other runners, or the field, in the second selection box. To win, your Leg-In selection must finish first or second, and one of your other selections must fill the remaining position.
Multiply the Leg-In selection by the number of selections marked in the second selection box. For example, you have one 'Leg-In' selection and three selections to fill the other placing for a bet value of $4.
| Leg-in selected | No. of other selections | Number of Combinations | |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | x | 3 | 3 |
To find the cost, multiply the number of combinations by the bet value selected.
| No. of combinations | Bet Value | Cost of bet | |
|---|---|---|---|
| 3 | x | $4 | $12 |
Note: You can only select one runner in the first selection column in a Leg-In Quinella.
Quinellas are available on every race.
If there is a two-way dead heat for first, the Quinella dividend on those selections is unaffected by the dead heat. If, however, there is a dead heat for second, then there will be two dead heat Quinella dividends paid. Each of them will be 50% of the full dividend on the two winning combinations, as per standard dead heat rules.
If any runners in your Quinella bet have been scratched you will receive a refund for every eliminated combination. You will also receive a refund if the race is abandoned or postponed.
If the winning Quinella combination has not been selected, the net Quinella prize pool on that race will be carried over and added to the Quinella pool on another race to be announced by the TAB.
A commission rate of 20% is deducted from gross investments. The Quinella is currently a non-combined pool.
