18 March 2008 Stewards' Inquiry - Thoroughbreds

RWWA Stewards yesterday concluded an inquiry into the reason for PILBARA PEARL (W. Arnold) falling near the 600m in Race 3 the Go For 2 & 5 Maiden over 1400m held at Geraldton Turf Club on Wednesday, 12 March 2008.

Evidence was taken from Apprentice R. Bynder (LADY FASTAR), her host Trainer Mr G. Daly, Jockey W. Arnold (PILBARA PEARL), Jockey M. Forder (ALL IS MAGIC) and Apprentice R. Rhodes (SUMSING).

Apprentice R. Bynder (LADY FASTAR) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under ARR.137(a) for allowing her mount to shift inwards when insufficiently clear of PILBARA PEARL (W. Arnold) causing that mare to strike the heels of LADY FASTAR and fall. This resulted in SUMSING (R. Rhodes) being bumped heavily and dislodge its rider shortly after causing WHICH DOCTOR (J. Berry) to be checked and NO IHTIRAM (I. Dauti) being inconvenienced and shift outwards causing TEEHANI’S GOLD (P. Carbery) to be checked and then eased from the race. Apprentice R. Bynder subsequently had her permit to ride in races suspended for a period of 25 days. This suspension was ordered to be served cumulatively to the suspension incurred at Bunbury Turf Club on Thursday, 13 March 2008 and as such was made effective from midnight 5 April 2008 and to expire at midnight 30 April 2008.

Further, RWWA Stewards concluded an inquiry into the reason for GO GUEST (J. Berry) being tightened and restrained at the 100m in Race 5 the Great Western Insurance Handicap over 1600m held at Geraldton Turf Club on Wednesday, 12 March 2008.

Jockey P. Carbery (BORN A CLASSIC) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under ARR.137(a) for allowing his mount to shift inwards when insufficiently clear of GO GUEST (J. Berry) causing that gelding to be tightened and restrained approaching the 100m. Jockey P. Carbery was subsequently suspended from riding in races for a period of 16 days to commence from midnight 19 March 2008 and to expire at midnight 4 April 2008.
