Ocean Ridge Out Of Pacing Cup
Evergreen pacer Our Jimmy Johnstone will get his fifth shot at winning a TABtouch-WA Pacing Cup (2936m), after stablemate Ocean Ridge was scratched earlier today.
Our Jimmy Johnstone was named first emergency when the field was released on Monday and will take his place in barrier five.
The evergreen 11-year-old recorded the best placed finish of his four attempts earlier this year when he finished third behind Mighty Conqueror and Vampiro.
His previous attempts were 5th (2019), 11th (2017) and 4th (2015).
Deni Roberts will drive the gelding, after she was originally named to drive Ocean Ridge.
Co-trainer Greg Bond said Ocean Ridge suffered a setback overnight which required a trip to the vets today which was too big of a setback to overcome for Friday night.
“He hurt his hip in his stall overnight and is very sore,” he said.
“He wasn’t going to be ready in time.”
Chicago Bull continues to be steadily backed for the $450,000 feature with TABtouch, firming from $1.65 to $1.55 since the market opened post-barrier draw.
Galactic Star is the first of the four Greg and Skye Bond runners in the market at $6.50 off the back of his second placing in the Retravision-Fremantle Cup.
Jack Farthing, Mighty Conqueror and To Fast To Serious all sit on the third line of betting at $11, with the trio to start from barriers one, two and 10 respectively.
