Most would say their first win is special, but how many could say their first win as a trainer came up at just their second start and in a metropolitan race at Gloucester Park on Friday night. Well for Banjup based trainer Chloe Brown, success came very quickly, with Tyler Brett saluting for the new stable just weeks since gaining her licence.
I’m sure there was plenty of banter after the win with Brown taking over the training of the seven-year-old from her long-term partner Dylan Egerton-Green just a couple of weeks prior and ending a losing sequence of 17 starts and just over a year between wins.
“Since Dylan moved to Perth to be foreman for dad, we have been working together training the horses. Dad and Dylan both encouraged me to get my licence to get some acknowledgment for my efforts.”
With a relatively long line of possible drivers for Tyler Brett, Brown confirmed that the decision to keep Dylan on as driver was an easy one but assured that there would have been no hard feelings from her father, Colin Brown.
“Dad would have been number two (choice of driver). He’s won a Higgins on Tyler and used to drive him for us before,”
“Dad wouldn’t have been disappointed, but if he stays in form, I’m sure I’ll get the text from Maddie for the drive.” She joked.
Chloe currently trains from her parents Banjup property, learning most of what she knows from her father Colin Brown, who’s had plenty of success on the track as both a trainer and reinsman.
“Dylan and I couldn’t do what we do without our parents. We use their properties to train and spell our horses, without that, we couldn’t do it.”

The win was special for both Brown and Egerton-Green, with Tyler Brett’s win bringing up Dylan’s 250th winning steer at Gloucester Park. Making his debut in the 2009 at just 16-years-old and has now driven a total of 724 winners and stakes to just over $8 million.
“It felt good to get the win, I didn’t realise it was my 250th win at GP, but Chloe works really hard and she deserves the success she gets.” Said Egerton-Green.
Chloe currently has just the one horse in work, with her other runner Our Mista Kalle currently on spell.
