Board directors provide both continuity and change
Rural business leader Sue Middleton brings a wealth of strategic and management knowledge to the Racing and Wagering Western Australia (RWWA) Board.
RWWA Chair Jeff Ovens said Sue’s appointment as a new director and the re-appointment of Anthony Hasluck for another term gave the Board an ideal blend of fresh talent and continuity.
“Sue brings new skills and ideas to the Board. She has strong strategic planning and change management experience across agricultural businesses, local communities and natural resource management groups,” Jeff said.
“Sue runs a consulting firm which develops business models that help rural communities and she is a highly influential leader in regional Western Australia.
“Sue’s talents and background make her a natural successor to Kirrilee Warr in bringing a regional understanding and focus to the RWWA Board.
“Racing is worth almost $1 billion a year to Western Australia and almost half of that economic value is generated in regional parts of the state.”
Anthony Hasluck has been on the RWWA Board since 2014 and has managed a communications consultancy for more than 20 years.
“The RWWA Board is stronger for a having a broad range of abilities and perspectives among its directors,” Jeff said.
“We value Anthony’s experience and leadership as RWWA navigates the potential sale of the TAB and an ever-changing landscape.
“A steady hand is particularly important as we continue to contend with the uncertainty and challenges of COVID-19.”
Jeff thanked outgoing Board member Kirrilee Warr for her important contribution to the organisation since 2014.
The Board appointments started on 1 February 2022.
