Bettors Fire’s comeback received a giant boost after drawing the coveted pole position in Friday’s $300,000 Fremantle Pacing Cup (2536m) at Gloucester Park.

The Kyle Harper-trained gelding was forced to miss the Inter Dominion championship after the second round of heats with a deep foot abscess.

Bettors Fire, a winner of 27 races, showed he was back to peak fitness and ready to bounce back after rating 1:56.4 to win a Byford trial.

Beaudiene Boaz, an outstanding winner of the last Friday’s Village Kid Sprint (1730m), has also drawn favourably in gate four.

Beaudiene Boaz is one of four starters for leading trainer, Gary Hall Sen. who fared well with Waylade to start from gate two and John Of Arc in three.

Devendra, a suprise packet in the Inter Dominion Championship with two heat wins, has been dealt a blow after drawing barrier 10.
