Bull Salutes On Ideal Night For Hall Stable
Chicago Bull continued his winning ways in last night’s Community TAB Pace (2130m), but it was the performance of Ideal Liner that stole the show at Gloucester Park.
Widely predicted as the horse that will be the next big star for trainer Gary Hall Snr, Ideal Liner produced an extraordinary performance to take out the Off The Track – More Than Just A Racehorse Pace (2130m).
Thereugo was able to set a steady tempo at the head of the field, while Warfare settled outside him.
The steady tempo in front made the job all the more difficult for Ideal Liner, who settled in the second half of the field.
Reinsman Gary Hall Jnr made his move as the field got the bell and had to sustain a three-wide run for the final lap.
The four-year-old then found another gear in the closing stages and scored a tough 2.2m win.
Hall Jnr was full of admiration for the American Ideal gelding’s win.
“Unreal really,” Hall Jnr told RWWA Harness.
“He shouldn’t have been able to win from there with the quarters they were running.”
Chicago Bull continued his winning ways in the Free-For-All event, in what was another sound performance.
Hall Jnr allowed the six-year-old to stride to the breeze in the middle stages and wear down race leader Whozideawasthis.
Herrick Roosevelt worked home well to finish second, while Whozideawasthis rounded out a trifecta in the race for Hall Snr.
Hall Jnr said the time made Chicago Bull’s performance all the more meritorious and admitted he was concerned the gelding may struggle to handle the rain-affected track.
“He gave the impression halfway down the straight that he was dead set on empty,” he said.
“It felt a little bit lacklustre, until I saw the times.
“The quarters there on this track suggest he’s run a pretty good race.
“Sometimes little horses with little feet don’t get through it that well.
“He’s on the right path.”
Hall Snr teamed up with Lauren Jones earlier in the evening to take out the Better Your Industry With TABtouch Pace (2536m) with Zennart.
