Community TAB shines a light for life this Christmas
Community TAB is proud to be donating $4,000 to support this year’s Lifeline WA Lights for Lifeline campaign. Community TAB has been Foundation Partner of the campaign since its inception. The campaign shines a light on suicide during the festive season, the time when demand for Lifelines service is at its highest.
Every 31 seconds, someone will call Lifeline WA lonely or in crisis this Christmas. The festive season is the busiest time of the year for Lifeline WA. It is the time of the year where levels of anxiety, depression and suicide increase. It is also a time of giving and, for many Australians, appreciating what they have in the company of loved ones.
This year Lifeline WA will once again be shining a light for Lifeline with the Lights for Lifeline tree in Yagan Square, a beacon of hope. The tree is lit with more than 47,000 lights, representing the number of Western Australians who found support from Lifeline WA by calling 13 11 14 over the last 12 months. As well as representing lives saved, the tree aims to lift the spirits and encourage all Western Australians to reach out if they are struggling this Christmas.
Community TABs $4,000 donation this year will fund the training of a Telephone Crisis Support volunteer, who will answer on average 184 calls from people in need each year, ultimately saving lives. Community TAB stands alongside Lifeline WA, in their quest to be there for all Western Australians who seek help in their time of need by calling 13 11 14.
