Derrick Boots Home A Treble
There is no slowing Madi Derrick who made an early claim on the apprentice’s premiership after her first city treble at Belmont on Wednesday.
Derrick guided home Treat Yo Self in race three, Hoolahoops in the sixth before capping her best day in the saddle on Showzali in race seven.
Treat Yo Self and Showzali, rated in front by Derrick, gave top trainer Adam Durrant a double. Hoolahoops is prepared by Justin Warwick.
“It’s a really good feeling and I had some great rides,” Derrick said.
“I’m just so happy to get it done.”
From an equestrian background, Derrick made her debut at Geraldton in January.
She had a dream start to her riding career with four winners from her first five rides.
Derrick completed her first season of riding with 40 winners.
She can add to her tally at Pinjarra on Thursday when she partners Advocator, the $2.45 favourite in the Keith Jeffreys Handicap (1200m).
