The powerful Gary Hall Sen. stable has six runners in Friday’s Fremantle Pacing Cup: Tabtouch favourite Beaudiene Boaz, Waylade, John Of Arc, Run Oneover, Classic American and My Hard Copy
Beaudiene Boaz earned favouritism after posting a comfortable all the way victory in last week’s Village Kid Sprint, his 20th win from 27 starts and fourth in succession.
The lightly-raced New Zealand-bred gelding has drawn barrier four for Gary Hall jun., with the champion reinsman out to claim his seventh win in the Group 1 feature.
Hall Jun., who leads his father by one win in the Fremantle Cup honour roll, drove Im Themightyquinn on three occasions, The Falcon Strike twice and Im Victorious two years ago.
Hall sen. can make a strong case for the majority of his starters including John Of Arc, who won four straight races before last week’s Village Kid Sprint.
He sat off the pegs and attacked the line powerfully when third to his stable mate, Beaudiene Boaz, beaten three metres.
The Courage Under Fire gelding, drawn in gate three for Nathan Turvey, is a $7 chance with the TAB. Hall sen. rates his chances highly.
“I really like John Of Arc and Nathan seems to really suit him,” Hall Sen., said on TABradio.
“You can’t rush and tear him and you can’t pull him around.
“You have to drive him as smoothly as possible.
“Nathan did that the other night and he went phenomenally to the line.
“I’m really pleased with him.
“His leg is good, he is good and I really reckon he is a serious chance.
“He’s had three runs and has never been able to get that preparation under his belt.
“Everything is going to plan and I think he will be steaming home.”
With six of the 11 Fremantle Cup starters Hall sen. is in line to repeat his trifecta in 2009 when Im Themightyquinn defeated Alzona and Dartmoor.
