Fashion competition heats up at Carnarvon
The WA Fashions on the Field competition is heating up with the next instalment of the 2019 competition heading up to the Gascoyne region on Saturday, 10 August.
The event was due to take place in June, but due to poor weather conditions, was rescheduled to this month.
The state wide racing fashion competition is open to fashionistas from all over Australia and consists of nine regional heats held at major country race meetings across the State, with Carnarvon Race Club’s Ladies Day hosting the fifth heat of the series.
Racing and Wagering WA’s (RWWA) Assistant Racing Marketing Manager, Geoff Watts, is a guest judge for the heat and is excited about heading to the Gascoyne.
“The WA Fashions on the Field programme is drawing out fierce competition and Carnarvon will no doubt showcase some wonderful fashion alongside its racing,” said Mr Watts.
“This season we have seen the couture runway influence transposed onto the racing fashion scene with the introduction of bold prints, contrasting materials, with cinnamon, mustard and tobacco tones peppering the stage.”
Last year’s heat winner was local Sam Wells who represented the Gascoyne in the WA Fashions on the Field Final at Ascot Racecourse.
Ms Wells encourages ladies to travel to Carnarvon to compete in the competition and experience the beautiful landscape and attractions of the region.
“The coastline in the Gascoyne is breathtakingly picturesque and should be on everyone’s bucket list,” said Ms Wells.
“If you’re going to enter WA Fashions on the Field, stay relaxed, have fun and most of all smile – there’s nothing more attractive than happiness.”
The winner of the Gascoyne regional heat will receive an invitation to compete in the WA Fashions on the Field Final at Ascot Racecourse on Saturday 30 November. The winner of the final will take home a trip for two to London to attend Royal Ascot with Motive Travel plus $10,000 spending money thanks to TABtouch and a $5,000 Linneys jewellery voucher.
