Starting first up for the new stable on Monday at Pinjarra, all eyes were on Gregarmy in race four who was recently purchased by the Abercromby family after his last start attempt at Gloucester Park back on the 3rd of August, where he sat three-wide the entire journey, beaten 53.7m but still holding on to fifth placing.
The four-year-old’s new connections were certainly not disappointed in yesterday’s run, with the impressive maiden breaking through for his first win in 1:55:8, putting a gap on the rest of the field by 16.4m whilst still rewarding punters with $3.20 odds over the 1684m sprint trip.
It was a questionable start in the fourth with most of the backline runners nowhere near the mobile for score up but starting from barrier seven; widest on the back line, Gregarmy was left out three-wide early and worked his way to the breeze at the bell, claiming the lead in the back straight to win under a hold for reinsman Chris Voak and trainer Craig Abercromby.
“He went really well, has showed ability in past efforts, however his tractability has let him down,”
“Craig has done a great job to gait him better and Monday’s effort showcased that. Plenty more wins in store on that performance.” Voak said.

With two runners in the first, Aiden Decampo took the drive on the second favourite of the race Jamie Kim, but it was Navy Street who claimed victory for the young trainer, driven by Dylan Egerton-Green. Breaking his maiden status at just his fourth start, the two-year-old settled towards the back of the field, making his run three wide just after the 400m point to go on to win by 2.1m in a mile rate of 1:56:7 over the 1684m sprint.
Justin Prentice and Gary Hall Jnr teamed up again for a win with Rambo Rabbit in race two at Pinjarra. The two-year-old Westbred gelding made it two in a row from just three starts, sitting outside the leader throughout to win comfortably by 4.3m in 1:56:4 over the 1684m journey.
Prentice had an exceptional weekend of racing, with the prominent stable having five winners from just the six starters over the three meetings. Prentice had a treble on Friday night at Gloucester Park with his runners Manning, Alta Louisa NZ and Always An Angel NZ, a win on Saturday with Mr Fantastic NZ and rounded out a fabulous few days of racing with the win in the second at Pinjarra on Monday.
There was plenty of angst during the third on the card, with trainer Michael Young starting Nevermindthechaos first up after two years of misfortune with the troublesome filly.
“Throughout the run she dropped back a little and I thought she had broken down again, so did Jnr (Gary Hall Jnr) but as soon as Deni pulled out to go around, she picked herself back up and got going again,”
“But so far she has pulled up good.” Young said.
The three-year-old filly started as the short-priced $1.30 favourite in the seven-horse field, restraining off the arm and settling four back on the pegs, she made her run 700m from home to sail past the leaders, winning by 9m in the 2185m maiden pace with Gary Hall Jnr in the cart.

It was a special win for Emily Suvaljko in the fifth, with Royal Essence bringing up the accomplished reinswoman’s 100th winning drive for the season. The $1.05 favourite led all the way from barrier one to win by easily by 9m and recording a mile rate of 1:59:0 for local trainer Nathan Turvey.

Team Bond trained a double on the card, with Tenzing Bromac NZ and Midnight Assassin NZ taking out races six and eight for reinsman Ryan Warwick. A flat tyre at the 1400m point didn’t seem to worry Tenzing Bromac NZ, with the three-year-old making it four in a row, and four wins from four starts in WA for the Bond stables. In a mile rate of 1:57:6, the $1.14 favourite led all the way, staving off his rivals by 1.4m over the 2185m trip.
Starting off the 40m handicap in the standing start over the 2116m, Powerplay claimed the seventh on the card after a drop back in class. After racing in metropolitan company his last three starts, the $1.65 favourite had settled second last on the pegs throughout, pulling out to make his run at the bell, to win 7.4m in a time 1:58:4
Another newcomer to the state, Midnight Assassin NZ makes it two from two since being imported from NZ recently. The trotter led all the way in a time of 2:02:5 over the 2185m mobile start, claiming the last on the card by 2m, continuing his good form in WA.
