Gun WA Drivers Join Star-Studded Cast In Tasmania

Gun Western Australian reinsman, Gary Hall Jnr and Chris Lewis, are part of a star-studded cast to contest the 2015 Sky Racing Australian Driving Championship at Launceston on Sunday.
Lewis and Hall Jnr join Ricky Duggan (Tasmania), Gareth Rattray (Tasmania), Ryan Hryhorec, (South Australia), Danielle Hill (South Australia), Grant Dixon (Queensland), Shane Graham (Queensland), Lauren Panella (New South Wales), Robert Morris (New South Wales), Greg Sugars (Victoria) and Gavin Lang (Victoria).
Two drivers from each state, who have been selected based on last season’s premiership driver results, will garner points from six of the nine races on the Launceston card.
Hall will combine with Witch Master (Race 2), Future Promises (Race 3), Lu Way Lord (Race 4), Palmisano (Race 5), Freelander (Race 6) and Tomeara (Race 7).
Lewis drives Devil Of Tyne (Race 2), Licinia (Race 3), Highway Christina (Race 4), Pushkin (Race 5), Art Of My Art (Race 6) and Siduri (Race 7).
Combined the 12 state representatives have won over 26,000 races with Gavin Land leading the charge with 5,578 victories. Victoria’s gun driver is closely followed by Chris Lewis, an inductee into the West Australian Racing Industry Hall Of Fame in 2011.
Hall Jnr and Lewis finished first and second respectively in the 2014-15 Leading Metropolitan Driver Award. The former scored 113 wins including the WA Derby and grossed stakes in excess of $1.8 million.
Hall Jnr, who drove Im Themightyquinn to three Inter Dominion titles, said he was delighted to be representing his state.
“It means a lot to me after placing in Adelaide last year I am keen to go one better,” he told RWWA.
“I’ve never driven in Tasmania so it’s a new experience for me.
“One of my ambitions is to be involved in the World Driving Championship, so if I take it out I will be able to achieve this.”
