Dual WA Pacing Cup champion My Hard Copy appears on track for an improved performance in this Saturday night’s A.G. Hunter Cup (3280m) at Melton.
The six-year-old finished eighth behind Inter Dominion champion Lennytheshark in last week’s Victoria Cup, a performance trainer Gary Hall Sr said was disappointing.
“I think he will go a lot better,” Hall said on TABradio.
“I was pretty disappointed with his effort in the finish, I can’t explain why that was.
Hall Sr said he expected a much better showing from My Hard Copy this Saturday, and thinks the extra distance will be advantageous.
“As this preparation has got longer, he has got a little bit more dour,” he said.
“I think the standing start and more distance will suit him.”
Clinton Hall once again takes the drive on My Hard Copy, from the inside of the second row.
Meanwhile, the news wasn’t as good for fellow WA Hunter Cup aspirant Jason Rulz, after trainer Michael Brennan was forced to scratch the seven-year-old.
Brennan told TABradio the gelding had a sore foot and would be sent straight to the paddock.
My Hard Copy was installed at $8.50 with early TABtouch markets, with Victoria Cup runner-up Smolda the current $3.20 favourite.
