Harness Appointment of Trainer/Driver K. Hawkins as Cadet Steward
Following a recruitment process, Racing and Wagering Western Australia (RWWA) is pleased to advise that Mr. Kristian Hawkins has been appointed as a Cadet Steward within the harness code.
RWWA’s General Manager Integrity Denis Borovica welcomed the appointment stating that Mr Hawkins’ long history within the industry would bring valuable insight to the role.
“Mr Hawkins is well known in both equine codes as a former Jockey and more recently Trainer/Driver in the harness code,” said Mr Borovica.
“Having been involved in the racing industry since 1995, he brings to the position a considerable level of practical and grass roots knowledge with respect to the conduct of racing. Once he has completed his cadetship and acquired the necessary skills of Stewarding he will be a welcomed addition to the panel.”
“RWWA is pleased to provide such career opportunities for industry participants so that these unique skills and knowledge are retained and utilised for the benefit of racing.”
Mr Hawkins is currently undertaking the necessary steps to cease his licensed involvement in the industry in order to meet the requirements of being a Steward with RWWA as specified in the Stewards Code of Conduct and Rules of Racing.
It is anticipated that he will formally commence as of 16 March 2020.
