Hay Park United Soccer Club awarded $2000 Community TAB Sports Grant
9 January, 2019
Community TAB of Racing and Wagering WA (RWWA) has awarded Hay Park United Soccer Club a $2000 sports grant.
The Soccer Club was one of four sporting clubs to receive a grant this month, selected from over 300 sporting clubs that applied from around WA.
Hay Park United Soccer Club Vice President Gareth Johnston said this grant will enable Hay Park United to reinvest this money back into our biggest assets, our players.
“As an amateur club run by volunteers the majority of funds raised during the season are from people within the club family so we are always sourcing new and innovative ways to gain some much needed funding,” Mr Johnston said.
“With this grant we intend to purchase a new team kit for our couple of our Junior Teams and also a new kit for our Senior Ladies Team for this coming season.”
“Hay Park United plays a huge role in providing a family friendly environment for all children and adults to play and socialise in a safe and family atmosphere, therefore we draw players from diverse backgrounds from the greater Bunbury region and take pride in our inclusiveness in a modern age club.”
“Hay Park United would like to sincerely thank Community TAB for their generosity and look forward to spending the funds in a way that will benefit the wider community by having more children and adults participating in sports and enjoying the great outdoors that Western Australia provides.”
RWWA CEO Richard Burt said the organisation recognises the importance of grass roots sport throughout WA.
“We understand that it takes time and resources to keep a club running within the community, so we are pleased to be giving the opportunity to help relieve this burden on clubs,” Mr Burt said.
“RWWA has been supporting the WA sport and recreation industry for many years through providing millions of dollars over 10 years to the Department of Sport and Recreation (DSR) and more recently through Community TAB.”
Community TAB will provide at least one grant each month to a sporting club to further their contribution to the sport and recreation industry in WA. Once a club applies for a grant, the application will stay within the pool until the grant is awarded.
