Kalgoorlie District Pony Club Awarded Community TAB Sports Grant
Racing and Wagering Western Australia’s (RWWA) Community TAB has awarded Kalgoorlie District Pony Club with a $2,000 sports grant.
The club will use the grant towards engaging an accredited coach for their monthly rallies to further develop the riding abilities, skills and knowledge of their riders.
Kalgoorlie District Pony Club President Leah Cook said the Community TAB grant is going to have a huge positive effect for all their riders and enable the club to continue to promote the aims and objectives of Pony Club WA.
“Being a small regional pony club, we have limited access to high level coaching for our pony club members, so to be recipients of this funding is just amazing and it will make a huge difference for our riders who will now be able to receive monthly lessons at our pony club rallies with an instructor from the metro area, Dave Carey, who is highly respected and recognised as an exceptional equestrian coach,” Leah said.
“Riders will receive lessons in three main disciplines of flat work, show jumping and cross country, which will not only enable riders to move forward in their personal and professional riding abilities, but also give them the confidence to know they have the skills and knowledge to compete in more regional and metro competitions.”
“We are just so overwhelmed that as a club we can now offer our members this incredible opportunity and to be able to watch them grow and develop is going to be the most rewarding outcome for everyone involved.”
RWWA Chief Executive Officer Ian Edwards said the organisation recognises the importance of grassroots sport in Western Australia.
“We are honoured to be supporting local sporting clubs to ensure they can continue to play a vital role in their community,” Ian said.
“Grassroots sporting clubs not only provide important benefits for individual wellbeing, but they also bring people from the local community together.”
Applications are now open for all Western Australian sporting clubs, allowing communities from all corners of the State to apply for financial support.
Community TAB will be providing two sporting clubs with a grant each month, with applications able to be submitted here.
