Leschenault Cricket Club awarded Community TAB Sports Grant
Community TAB of Racing and Wagering Western Australia (RWWA) has awarded Leschenault Cricket Club a $2,000 sports grant.
Leschenault Cricket Club will use the grant towards the purchase of equipment for juniors where playing numbers have increased.
Leschenault Cricket Club President Angelo D’Agostino said the club has kept their fees at the same level for five years to ensure no obstacles for participation.
“Receiving this grant means we will make good on our promise that no player will miss out on their cricket due to financial circumstances,” Mr D’Agostino said.
“We have a very diverse membership from four years old through to retirees, all gender, all abilities and many different ethnic origins, and with the common interest of cricket our club plays a central role in bringing that diversity together.”
“Our off-season fundraising efforts were severely hampered due to the impact of COVID-19 so receiving this grant is a tremendous help to us delivering our programs.”
RWWA CEO Ian Edwards said the organisation recognises the importance of grassroots sport in Western Australia.
“We are honoured to be supporting local sporting clubs to ensure they can continue to play a vital role in their local community,” Mr Edwards said.
“Grassroots sporting clubs not only provide important benefits for individual wellbeing, but they also bring people from the local community together.”
Applications are open for all Western Australian sporting clubs, allowing communities from all corners of the State to apply for financial support.
Community TAB will be providing two sporting clubs with a grant each month, with applications able to be submitted here.
