Mandurah Oaks up for grabs
Tonight’s Listed Greyhounds WA Mandurah Oaks final over 490 metres has drawn together an even field with five of the eight runners in single figures on the fixed odds market with TABtouch.
Heading up betting is the David Hobby trained Sunset Piper who has drifted from $2.30 out to $3.
The daughter of Cosmic Rumble and Sunset Gucci was able to run down Our Seabrook in her heat last week arriving in the shadows of the post to prevail by a narrow margin in the fastest heat time of 27.31.
She has had 11 career starts for 3 wins and moves from box eight in her heat in to box three for the final.
On the second line of betting is Our Seabrook who ran an excellent second behind Sunset Piper in the heat.
Our Seabrook has been well backed firming from $3.80 in to $3.10 and she has put together and excellent CV starting 22 times for 7 wins and 10 placings.
Our Seabrook will exit box six for Trainer Chris Halse, a draw she has had twice in the past for one placing.
The interesting runner is the Shayne William’s trained Rippin’ Memphis.
The daughter of Fernando Bale and Rippin’ Rose had to be scratched from the Group 1 Perth Cup final where she was a pre-post favourite after having a split webbing.
She ran third in her heat behind Cascade Monelli in 28.19 but her prior form had been at a very high level recording five consecutive victories at Cannington in swift times and a second in a Perth Cup heat.
She does possess a brilliant early split and if she can hit the ground running she may well take some stopping. She has firmed from $4 in to $3.50 on the fixed odds.
Chevy Nova is next in betting at $8 and led for a long way in her heat before being collared by Beck’s Monelli in 27.72 while Beck’s Monelli is at $9 and Salsa Monelli at $15.
In what is an interesting affair I am going to lean towards Rippin’ Memphis recapturing her best for the final to defeat Sunset Piper and Our Seabrook.
WA have the strongest contingent of east coast raiders in a long time heading over to Victoria for a crack at the Group 1 Harrison Dawson and Sandown Cup in the coming weeks.
Last night Sunset Spitfire, Star Book and Barefoot Tycoon all trialled between races while We The People was successful in a Mixed Grade 4/5 over the 715 metres.
Joining those chasers will be Tommy Shelby, Zack Monelli and Jayville Slick leaving WA with their strongest contingent of topliners aiming up at Group 1 glory in my memory.
