Margaret River Basketball Association Awarded Community TAB Sports Grant
Racing and Wagering Western Australia’s (RWWA) Community TAB has awarded Margaret River Basketball Association with a $1,000 sports grant.
The club used the grant towards equipment and uniforms to help keep the overall player registration fees to a minimum.
Margaret River Basketball Association President Kellene Harvey said it means a great deal to be awarded the grant.
“For our volunteers it helps with a substantial amount of time and effort that goes into fundraising, and to be able to purchase equipment and uniforms encourages accessibility for all and brings a real sense of unity and club pride, throughout the club,” said Kellene.
“Margaret River Basketball Association is a rapidly expanding junior sporting club made up of members from the age of 7-20 years and 2020 was our largest year yet with over 400 junior registrations.”
“I think our club teaches our youth of today, the importance of being part of a club, to respect one another, to look out and help fellow members in our sporting and local community.”
“We appreciate the support of organisations and grants to assist clubs, particularly in regional areas where we do not have access to the same facilities and services as our metropolitan counterparts.”
RWWA Chief Executive Officer Ian Edwards said the organisation recognises the importance of grassroots sport in Western Australia.
“We are honoured to be supporting local sporting clubs to ensure they can continue to play a vital role in their community,” Ian said.
“Grassroots sporting clubs not only provide important benefits for individual wellbeing, but they also bring people from the local community together.”
Applications are now open for all Western Australian sporting clubs, allowing communities from all corners of the State to apply for financial support.
Community TAB will be providing two sporting clubs with a grant each month, with applications able to be submitted here.
