Mount Helena Junior Football Club awarded Community TAB Sports Grant
Community TAB of Racing and Wagering WA (RWWA) has awarded Mount Helena Junior Football Club a $2000 sports grant.
The football club was one of four sporting clubs selected to receive a grant in June, from over 500 sporting clubs that have applied from around WA.
Mount Helena Junior Football Club President Amy Lyon said the club is a place for kids to have ownership and a sense of belonging while making new friendships outside of school.
“We are a small family orientated club within the Perth Hills, due to this we are part of a small community and our donations are limited,” Ms Lyon said.
“This Grant will help the club purchase more equipment to support the kids on their football journey that other larger clubs may take for granted.”
“We have a positive focus into teenage years with strong leadership and role models for the kids, and it is a place for the parents to meet new people, make friendships and get involved within the community.”
RWWA CEO Richard Burt said the organisation recognises the importance of grass roots sports throughout WA.
“We understand that it takes time and resources to keep a club running within the community, so we are pleased to be giving the opportunity to help relieve this burden on clubs,” said Mr Burt.
Community TAB will provide at least one grant each month to a sporting club to further their contribution to the sport and recreation industry in WA. Once a club applies for a grant, the application will stay within the pool until the grant is awarded.
