Mt Magnet Race Club and Community TAB to fundraise for local St John Ambulance
Mt Magnet Race Club and Community TAB have joined forces to raise funds for Mt Magnet St John Ambulance at the annual Mt Magnet Cup on Saturday 3 October.
Mt Magnet Race Club President Debbie Dowden said the Community TAB program is a wonderful initiative allowing the race club to be a catalyst for worthwhile fundraising.
“Our chosen partner is the St John Ambulance, Mt Magnet subdivision, who provide crucial services to the wider community,” Ms Dowden said.
“Our race meeting on 3 October is the only race meeting we hold, and the major social event for our community,” Ms Dowden said.
“St John Ambulance will have a food and drink stall to raise funds which will go towards vital medical equipment for our St John Ambulance.”
Community TAB will be matching funds raised on the day up to $2,000.
RWWA Chairman Jeff Ovens said the positive effects of the Community TAB program have been extensive for regional WA, with 49 of WA’s race clubs based in regional communities.
“RWWA recognises that race clubs across WA play an important role in their community, contributing both economically and socially, with partnerships like these an example of the strong connection race clubs have within the communities in which they operate,” Mr Owens said.
“Community TAB is proud to play our part in giving back to the community, and our donation to Mt Magnet St John Ambulance is just one of more than 50 community organisations that will be supported as part of the program.”
The Community TAB dollar matching program has been in effect from early 2015 and has since raised over $600,000 for not-for-profit organisations around WA through partnerships with local race clubs.
