Murchison Hockey Club awarded Community TAB Sports Grant
Community TAB of Racing and Wagering WA (RWWA) has awarded Murchison Hockey Club a $4000 sports grant.
The Murchison Hockey Club was one of two sporting clubs selected to receive a grant in July, from over 500 sporting clubs that have applied from around WA.
Murchison Hockey Club Treasurer Kate Fariss said this grant will enable them to purchase new equipment that will make trainings more enjoyable for their players.
“We are also hoping to purchase some better end of season awards to help retain the junior players we have, as our clubs focus this year is to encourage and develop our junior players, and we have some great young talent that have a real love for the sport,” Ms Fariss said.
“We are in the process of designing new club jumpers and this grant will assist us in purchasing some initial stock to then on sell to our club members.”
“The Murchison Hockey Club prides itself on being a family orientated club with many families having been involved for numerous years, we support each other both on and off the hockey field.”
“The Murchison Hockey Club would like to thank Community TAB for easing the financial burden for our club and for allowing us to explore other ways to better our club.”
Ms Fariss added that the club would like to dedicate this grant to their hard-working volunteers who go above and beyond for the good of their members.
RWWA CEO Richard Burt said the organisation recognises the importance of grass roots sports throughout WA.
“We understand that it takes time and resources to keep a club running within the community, so we are pleased to be giving the opportunity to help relieve this burden on clubs,” said Mr Burt.
Community TAB will provide at least one grant each month to a sporting club to further their contribution to the sport and recreation industry in WA. Once a club applies for a grant, the application will stay within the pool until the grant is awarded.
