Narrogin Racing Club and Community TAB to fundraise for local St John Ambulance
Narrogin Racing Club and Community TAB have joined forces to raise funds for the Narrogin St John Ambulance at the annual XXXX Gold Narrogin Cup on Sunday 7 February.
This is the sixth year the Narrogin Racing Club has taken part in the program and over that time has raised nearly $9,500, plus Community TAB doubling that amount, for the Narrogin St John Ambulance to purchase vital equipment.
Narrogin Racing Club Manager Cathi Trefort said the program is the race clubs’ chance to give back to the community that supports them.
“This season Narrogin Racing has been proactive in supporting our local community and this is just another chance to help. It is one big circle of support not only financially but other ways whereby if we can help the community for the greater good, the flow on affect to other aspects of the region is extremely beneficial,” Cathi said.
“St John Ambulance Narrogin is an amazing group mainly staffed by incredible volunteers, who you call when you need help and to be able to potentially assist make it more efficient and effective with the purchase of new equipment, we are more than happy to help where possible.”
“XXXX Gold Narrogin Cup on Sunday 9 February is our richest meet on the calendar with Fashions on the Fields for all categories, the trackside Marquee will be open for bookings, children’s entertainment and live music into the evening with a local band performing.”
“Country racing clubs cannot exist without the support of Ambulance crew, and to be able to show our support and give back is a fantastic opportunity.”
Community TAB will be matching funds raised on the day up to $2,000.
RWWA Chair Jeff Ovens said the positive effects of the Community TAB program have been extensive for regional WA, with 48 of WA’s race clubs based in regional communities.
“RWWA recognises that race clubs across WA play an important role in their community, contributing both economically and socially, with partnerships like these an example of the strong connection race clubs have within the communities in which they operate,” Mr Ovens said.
“Community TAB is proud to play our part in giving back to the community, and our donation to Narrogin St John Ambulance is just one of more than 50 community organisations that will be supported as part of the program.”
The Community TAB dollar matching program has been in effect from early 2015 and has since raised over $600,000 for not-for-profit organisations around WA through partnerships with local race clubs.
