New dates for premier harness races
The greatest races on the Western Australian harness calendar are changing dates in 2022 to attract the biggest crowds.
The TABtouch WA Pacing Cup is moving to 4 February 2022 to match up with the family favourite Chinese Fireworks Night at Gloucester Park.
Originally scheduled for 28 January 2022, the new alignment with the popular fireworks evening will showcase the top-tier Group 1 race, worth $450,000 in prizemoney, to the widest audience.
The Retravision Fremantle Cup will move to 21 January 2022 to maintain the two-week gap in between the two feature races.
The Group 1 Retravision Fremantle Cup, with a total of $300,000 in prizemoney available, was originally planned for 14 January.
Dates have also been altered for other leading races to fit in with the changed program. The WA Trotters’ Cup will now be held on 28 January instead of 4 February.
The Nights of Thunder final will run on 14 January instead of 21 January and the heats have moved to 7 January 2022.
